For Women, By Women (The Daysteps Story)

There exists an interesting dilemma related to products made for people like you (home- and family-focused women). For the most part, the people who developed them are men and career-focused women. Their priorities are very different from yours, which can create  a “disconnect” as far as understanding what’s really important. Sure, they do research and ask questions. But they can never experience the life you live.

This is where Daysteps is different. Of the four cofounders, two are women just like you who have a multitude of responsibilities (Cecilia and Kelly). They have always made family life and their homes a priority over career. Laura and I value our home lives and family, but have business backgrounds and experience (Laura’s in graphic arts. Mine in business management and marketing). This combination of strengths gives the four of us together unique and valuable insights.

What makes this partnership work is two-part: we all have respect for the others’ viewpoints and we always keep our customers in mind - women who run a household, plus have significant additional responsibilities (children, family, job, volunteer work, etc).  Sure, we did research (See my Marketing Strategy Thoughts blog post, Know the Customer, Be the Customer for more info). But beyond that, where traditional corporations have to guess what stay-at-home moms, work-at-home moms, and other women with higher priorities than career are feeling and thinking, we KNOW because Cecilia and Kelly live it.
